How it works

STEP ONE – BLOODS

A small amount of preparation is required prior to your check. We email a health and lifestyle questionnaire for you to complete prior to attending and a blood test request form for you to take to your nearest Pathology Lab for a quick blood test.

STEP TWO – MEASURE

When you arrive at the clinic for your assessment, we ask that you change into your exercise gear and provide a urine sample. Then we conduct a series of fundamental tests to measure your height, weight, skin folds, lung function, hearing, and vision.

We’ll explain the results throughout the process and make comparisons with predicted norms and any previous visits to the clinic.  All results are then passed onto the Doctor for the next stage.

STEP THREE – DOCTOR

This is a full body medical examination by one of our Doctors. It’s a highly personalised session based on your initial medical questionnaire and blood test results.

We’ll examine your cardiovascular, respiratory, abdominal, neurological and musculoskeletal systems. Breast examinations and prostate checks are also available. The Doctor will discuss their findings throughout the sessions and help with any concerns or questions you have.

STEP FOUR – HEART

For this stage you will head through to the treadmill room. Here we measure your heart activity with an ECG. We measure activity when you are resting, walking and for some clients, running.  Sensors placed on your body feed us information about your heart’s rhythm, muscle and blood supply. We measure your resting and exercising blood pressures. It also allows us to estimate your aerobic fitness level.

These tests help us to identify whether you have any heart damage, narrowing or blocked arteries, or an irregular heart rhythm.  This is a very important part of the process. When it comes to your heart, you don’t want to be in the dark. Early detection is key, because most things can be treated.

STEP FIVE – WRAP UP

We sit down to review your results from the session and discuss your lifestyle, with an emphasis on exercise and nutrition. A summary report including our Cardiologist’s review of your ECG will be posted/emailed to you.
