This thorough health assessment provides a means of detecting ill‑health at the earliest possible stage ‑ looking particularly for early warning signs of cancer, heart disease or possible stress‑related disorders. The continuous monitoring of electrocardiogram and blood pressure during treadmill exercise is a particularly powerful tool for revealing latent or early heart disease ‑ even where such disease has not yet progressed to symptoms. In addition a thorough analysis is made of possible risk factors for the subsequent development of serious health problems, and appropriate advice given.

This evaluation comprises the following

  • detailed medical history and stress questionnaires
  • measurement of height, weight and body-fat content
  • general physical examination, including skin-cancer check, prostate examination for males over 45 years of age
  • for women, skin-cancer check and breast examination (by a woman doctor)
  • tests of vision, hearing and lung function
  • wide range of blood tests as detailed further down (will usually include cholesterol as well as blood count, tests of liver and kidney function, tests for diabetes and gout, iron levels, and prostate test (for males). Urine analysis to test kidneys
  • exercise test with continuous monitoring of ECG and blood pressure levels during exercise and recovery
  • consultant cardiologists report on all ECG tracings
  • thorough review of results which includes information on nutrition and weight management, stress management, muscular strength and flexibility or aerobic fitness as individually appropriate. Advice given on additional investigations such as chest x-ray, mammogram, colonoscopy, bone-density assessment as required.
  • full book of results to each person, includes coronary risk factors profile and copies of blood tests and ECG tracing, with additional copies for personal physician where required.

Without blood tests: $818

Cholesterol and fasting blood glucose*: $859

Full checkup**: $920

*Cholesterol testing is important in establishing risk of future heart disease and fasting blood glucose is increased in diabetes.

**Where blood tests include cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, complete blood count (measures red-cell and white-cell counts, tests for anaemia and leukaemia and can indicate infection), liver function tests, creatinine, sodium & potassium levels (to test kidneys), uric acid level (increased in gout), iron levels (important for oxygen carriage to muscles and when reduced leads to tiredness and lethargy), plus prostate specific antigen (tests for prostate cancer).

There are further blood tests which can be requested including thyroid hormones (useful for investigating undue tiredness or lethargy) and c-reactive protein (increased in infection, heart disease and inflammation). The costs of these can be provided on request.
